I was in therapy for 2.5 years with a therapist who regularly told me that he was committed to staying involved in my care until I at least found someone else. That he believed he could help me. That he would stick by me. We went through a rough patch in therapy, and I was utterly traumatized. I was moving to a different house and it brought with it a lot of triggers and stress.
One day, before my new home was ready, the therapist kicked me out of his care. He claims that I wanted to leave but I said no such thing. I moved into my new house and collapsed. I had a suicide attempt shortly after. To this day, he has not apologized or checked in on my welfare. Nor did he write to my GP to share what had happened, or assisted in any smooth handover.
